If you work or want to work in biomedical research, you surely came to the realization that you can do research in an academic setting, in an industry setting, or in a non-profit. You probably heard dozens of stories and anecdotes from people who worked in both academia and industry, and now you do not know what is the best way to take for you at this time, or maybe you think you know exactly what your path is, as did I. In this meeting, I will present you my story thus far, the company I presently work in and what it stands for, and some commonly-heard generalizations about industrial vs academic research, which may not hold true for every situation. We will conclude with some reflections about what it means to be a researcher and why it is important to really look into yourself and understand what you want from your career, and even your life.
